Research and Writing

Abigail has given lecture recitals and presentations at international symposiums and conferences in the UK, Europe and South-East Asia. Her PhD project at the Royal Academy of Music used the piano music of Charles Griffes as a means of examining a performer’s practice and the tools one builds for and from a specific repertoire. She is interested in exploring the field of artistic research and developing new methods and outputs to communicate these insights to a wider audience.

Abigail also writes programme notes for organizations such as the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Singapore International Piano Festival, as well as her own recitals. Her reflective essay and listener’s guide to More Than Music’s Beethoven Violin Sonata cycle can be found on Esplanade Offstage. Read her Straits Times Op-Ed on Messiaen’s Quartet for the End Of Time here.
